Weekend Happenings

Eric's sister Kyli is prego and about to pop, so she came down from Rexburg with their mom for a doctor's appointment, and then ended up staying the night with us. We had a fun time being with them and with Brooklyn, our 2 yr old niece. We went to I-hop and Brooklyn got CHOCOLATE WASTED!!!

We then returned home, and watched Secretariat, and early this morning my mother-in-law Susan and I headed out to get some errands done. I got to play with Brooklyn a little more when we got home from shopping. Eric and I miss her so much. When Kyli and Dan were living here in SLC it was nice because we got to spend so much time together, but we got a little attached to this cutie, and now she is growing like a weed. We played on the Karaoke machine before they left. This is Brooklyn singing a little song of her own.

Eric and I also were a little bummed out this weekend because my older sister Nina graduated from nursing school this weekend and we weren't able to make out to Ohio for her pinning. The rest of my family(ok only some) were able to go, and they took a few pictures and sent them to me while they were there. They all got to tubing this weekend, lucky ducks. They had a blast! I miss my family and hope I can go visit them soon....if only we weren't all spread out.

Well thats all folks, hope you're enjoying February and getting ready for V-day. I know I am :)

Update on Us

I feel like I need to blog today, but I don't really know what to blog about. Nothing too exciting has been going on lately. Eric's calling in the ward as ward mission leader is really time consuming but very fulfilling and tonight I get to go to a baptism of a boy tonight, and I am excited to witness another child of God finding the gospel in their life.

This Saturday as well as last saturday I got to go to the SPA!!!!! Yeah, I am now a firm believer that every working woman deserves to spend every saturday morning at the spa. It's just good for the soul. It is so relaxing, and calming, and my stress level drops to about 0 when I am there. The cottage day spa and salon is now my new best friend! Oh yeah, I get a bonus this week!!! I am trying to decide what to spend it on, but I think I m gonna get new running shoes, buy a printer for the computer, and maybe go to the spa again! hahaha the rest I'll put into savings and try to be semi-responsible.

Eric and I have a new favorite show. "BONES" yep, Netflix and I have a relationship. We have both seen episodes here and there but we decided to start from the very beginning, with season 1. Eric is way ahead of me and is already in the middle of season 2 and I am in season 1 still. Oh well I'll catch up soon enough. We've decided our relationship is a lot like Brennan and Boothe's. At least thats how we treat each other most of the time. I am very rational and logical as a thinker, and Eric is more care free, but with street smarts and good with people. We love the show.

Also, I'll share a secret. I interviewed for a position with the Utah Board of Education as a Child Nutrition Specialist on Friday. I felt like the interview went really well so I hope I get the job because it would be a career, not just a job, and so much good could come out of it, and then I could cross off one of my new year resolutions.

Well thats all I have as an update for now. Till next time....Live Strong!

!!!24!!! OLD and SPOILED!!!

Yesterday the 15th of January I officially became old when I celebrated my 24th Birthday. My only saving grace is that I am now finally the age Eric was when we met almost 6 years ago!!! :) Thats what he kept telling me all day when I would complain about feeling old. Well my Birthday week was supposed to be epic but then I got a nasty cold, had to stay home from work on Wednesday cause it got so bad, and it honestly still hasn't gone away. It is sucky, but thankfully Eric was able to spend almost all day at home with me on wednesday just taking care of me. So all the Birthday fun started Saturday. Eric had to work and since I don't have any family here to spend time with I spent my day SHOPPING with all my Birthday money. I got some awesome stuff! The best part is most of the stuff I bought was on sale. I bought a pair of Jeans from H&M for 10$, and Victorias Secret was having there semi-annual sale so all there smelly good stuff was 75% off. This year I think the theme for all my gifts were pamper yourself. All in all I got a ton of new clothes and product.
These are all the Products I got for my Birthday!! I really love my new Coach perfume!

Then Saturday night when Eric got home from work we went to dinner at the Blue Lemon Restaurant with some of our close friends. The food is all gourmet and expensive, but the atmosphere is really casual and laid back. It was a really fun place and we had a great time with everyone.
Me all ready to go...just waiting on Eric :)

The group of us. For some reason I find this picture really awkward maybe its cause we are all so far apart from each other hahaha. In picture:(left to right) Sydney, Me, Eric, Kyle, Kory, Steffaney, Janelle.

Eric, Sydney, and I really stuffed!

Steff and Janelle

Sunday Morning, my actual Birthday, I woke up to an awesome breakfast. Eric made me breakfast in bed. The food looked a little interesting, but it tasted really yummy, and it was so cute that he went all out for my Birthday!

After breakfast we headed to church, and that was really fun cause all the primary kids sang Happy Birthday to me, and my class of little 6 year olds were so excited about it!!! When we got home from church Eric cleaned the whole house, and he made us a fancy dinner all by himself (I do most of the cooking if you haven't figured that out by now :).
It was really yummy!!

After dinner, we just relaxed until all our friends came over for cake. Eric also baked the cake all by himself and he made it extra chocolaty just for me.
We didn't have Birthday candles so eric used tea lights to monogram my cake with LH.

We also played the Wii with everyone. This is Sydney and I playing Country Dance 2 on the Wii.

This is embarrassing I don't know why I am posting this. hahaha

Oh and I almost forgot the best part! Eric spoiled me rotten this year. He got me a Spa Package to the Cottage Retreat, Spa and Salon. The package he got me includes a chemical peel, hand treatment, Spa Body Salt Glow with aromatherapy oils, a haircut and style, and a deep conditioning treatment. And to top off all that, he got me an extra gift card to pick out any massage I want and another treatment! He is AMAZING!!!! I am so super excited for my day at the SPA!!!

New Year, New Outlooks

2011, Well, overall it was a pretty fantastic year, but it definitely had its ups and downs! Last Year 2011 started off with a bang when Eric proposed on New Years Day at Epcot's firework display in Disney World! I mean really!!!!!!!

Thats pretty hard to top, but literally the falling day my dad suffered a massive heart attack, was rushed to immediate surgery where he underwent triple bypass surgery. It kinda made Disney hard to enjoy when you're not sure if your dad is gonna make it through surgery. But luckily, I was blessed to have my amazing fiance and his wonderful family to comfort me into the wee hours of the morning in the hotel  room waiting for the chance to hear my dad's voice again. Well he made it through surgery, but shortly after it was discovered that he had developed an infection in his chest, so once again he was rushed to surgery where the doctors decided to cut his chest open and then leave it open oh for well...oh yeah its STILL open. Thankfully the wound is healing on its own, so additional surgeries such as a skin graft is not needed right not. But we also just recently found out that he is in Stage 2 renal failure and we are waiting for more tests to be run, but most likely dialysis here we come. I've recently discovered that no matter the joy in our life that we are having today, tomorrow can be filled with much sorrow. I was so happy to marry the man of my dreams in the bountiful, ut. temple on June 8th with lots of family surrounding us, but my dad was too sick to travel anywhere and was not able to attend.
 Missing DAD! :(

Not having my dad to be there with me as I was sealed to Eric for time and all eternity was heartbreaking, so with good comes the bad. I also was asked to interview with a PA school in Pennsylvania. That was quite the rollercoaster. realizing my plan isn't always heavenly father's plan was tough. Some of you know the story already so I'll briefly explain what happened. I flew out to Philly and upon immediately arriving I got an awful sickening feeling in my stomach. At first I just though it was my nerves cause I was rushing to interview on the other side of the country for grad school, but that wasn't it. I went to my interview and it went AMAZING!!!!! but I still had this awful feeling. As I got to talking with one of the current students, she was quick to inform me of how expensive housing was, and the crime rate was super high. I have literally never seen GHETTOS like these!!! I thought I lived in a city until I went to philly.... just a whole other life out there. Poor is poor like I've never seen. All around I had an awful feeling about the whole place and when everyone asked me how it went I said great, but I knew already that was not the place I was supposed to go to. School or not Heavenly Father let me know through the Holy Ghost, ABSOLUTELY NOT, I was NOT supposed to go there. So as I prayed I asked him, to make sure I didn't get in, cause if I got in and nowhere else I would choose it. Well to make a long story short I didn't get in, and I spent the whole last year working at my job that I can hardly bear. I try to be more grateful everyday that I have been blessed to even have a job that is pertinent to what I want to do with my life but its still hard to be grateful working at a job your over qualified for and underpaid to do. I know all will work out if I put my Heavenly Father first, everything else somehow will fall into place. Eric and I have reached the point in our marriage where we are trying to plan for a family, but to do that we have to get a lot of the details figured out and school and careers are the biggest for us right now! So 2012!!! I have high hopes, and plan to have a little more faith in the path you have planned for us this year! Eric is turning 30 this year, I turn 24 in less than 2 weeks, I reapplied to grad school, I'm looking at some other programs as well, Eric is working hard and moving up through the company, and as for my family, there is a lot of love and support and we'll do anything for each other. So for this New Year I have a few resolutions to jaunt down....Eric may add some later but he says he doesn't do resolutions he tries to change daily hahaha. Anyways, here are mine:

1. Be healthy- this includes what I eat, drink, and activities I participate in. I already have planned to run a half-marathon in June with most of the Hale crew and Eric if can talk him in to at least running the 5K with his mom. Dam Marathon 2.0!!
2. Quit my Job/Find New ONE/Grad School- Well this one is gonna be tricky, see I have awesome benefits, because the medical laboratory I work for is affiliated with the University of Utah, Hospitals, and care centers. So I am not necessarily looking to leave the company just move up and transfer to a different department. And yes Grad school... begin it, get in, move if I have too, just need to change things up and I really really miss school. Call me a dork or whatever But I have always loved learning. Yes, tests and homework, projects and all that stuff I don't love but I miss learning and I am ready to start a career not just a job. I want to know that someday if I have too I can support the family on my own. Yes I am that much of a planner!
3. Save more Money- Eric and I since we have been married are pretty much rocking at this financial part, but you can never be too prepared. We have been able to pay off a lot things that he had purchased before we got married, we've saved a lot, and I want to keep saving, and being financially smart and we have Dave Ramsey, the River Oaks Stake, and my brother Eric and his wife rebecca to thank for helping us start our marriage off right!!!! No credit cards, just cash, savings, and a lot of smart decision making.

Well those are my 3 Resolutions for the year, along with be a better wife, daughter, sister, and friend to all the people who love and support me and have made me who I am today!!! Love you all and Happy 2012!!!!! Twelve is my Lucky Number!!! It was my softball number all through high school!!! And I plan to have an awesome time this year like I did when I was in High School!!!!!!

Peace out 2011, Welcome 2012!!!!!!!!

Christmas 1.0

Eric and I had a wonderful first Christmas married this year! Friday night we drove up late from Salt Lake to Star Valley. It was pretty darn cold when we arrived there at 1am. It was a wopping -8 degrees. Snow was on the ground, and it was a clear night, meaning you could see every star in the galaxy pretty much! We stayed up and hung out with the fam till about 3am, and then finally hit the sack.
Christmas Eve day, was spent mostly lounging out in our jammies, snacking on lots of yummy treats, and playing our new wii we bought ourselves for christmas!!!! That night we had manicotti for dinner and it was DELICIOUS. Then some of our family friends, Raliegh and Sharyl, came over and we opened 1 gift each, as tradition dictates. :)
Kyli, Dan, Brooklyn, and baby Scherbel

Mom and Dad Hale

Oh man, we were soooooo tired, check out those bags under my eyes hahah

Ralrigh and Sharyl!

We all got christmas jams, so we all put them on and then played 1 hardcore game of cranium, boys vs. girls. Us girls made an awesome come back and almost won. It came down to the last question and the boys got an easy one, so they won, yes I'm a little bitter about that. hahahaha

Christmas morning, we all slept in, went to chruch, and then came home and opened presents!!!!! We were extremely spoiled this year!!!
Watching Brooklyn open up gifts was so fun!!! Can't believe she is 2!!! I remember when Eric and I were first dating back in 2009, going to see and hold her in the hospital!!! CRAZY!

Brooklyn with Grammy after Church

Scherbel family opening up gifts!! We are going to miss them when they move to Rexburg next week for Dan's schooling. No more sunday dinners together :(

more of our super duper cute niece Brookey! :)

He LOVES Christmas!!

"Will Cook for Shoes" Perfect Apron for a Shopaholic! bahahaha

Caeliie, Maddie, and Kamdyn made it over for presents too!!!

Gifts we got, well there is a huge list but these are a few I can think of off the top of my head: Chi hair straightener, fossil purse, electric juicer, a wii and lots of games and accessories, the hale family cookbook, a lot of money and gift cards to best buy, a gorgeous monogrammed glass framed to hang on the wall, clothes, fishing gear for eric, head lamp, camping stuff, golfing stuff, candy galore, and more and more and more!!!!!!! :) We had to come home late last night to get Eric back for work in time today, but all in all, it was an AMAZING official first Christmas with the love of my life! Can't wait for all the other christmases to come!!!

6 Months Going on Eternity

Thursday Dec. 8th, was Eric and I's half way mark to our 1st year Anniversary. So of course we had to make it special. So Friday night Eric and I celebrated with dinner and a movie. We went and saw the movie New Year's Eve, because he proposed on New Year's Day. It was really fun and Eric also surprised me with a couple little gifts. He bought the movie THE HELP for me, and he gave a really yummy edible arrangement. He is so sweet!! I have the best husband and I can't wait for the rest of eternity to spend it with him. :) Here are a couple pics from our fun night out!

Tis the Season

Winter is fast approaching, and Eric and I have been very busy getting ready for the holidays, and enjoying the cooler weather. So last Friday night, yeah I'm playing catch up, Eric and I went to the South Jordan Plaza with our friends Jeff and Jessica from our ward. It was opening night so there was free ice skating and free hot chocolate for everybody! It was cold, but it was so fun, and once I got the hang of my ice skates, I did pretty good! :)

Sorry for the blurriness but our camera died within seconds after we got to the rink so we had to use eric's phone :(

We had so much fun! And I think Eric liked showing off his mad skills on the ice...I on the other hand looked like a baby giraffe trying to stand for the first time haha!

Saturday morning Eric and I woke up and drove right up the road to pick out our very first Christmas tree!! I of course was looking for tall, and Eric was looking for fat, so yep!!! You guessed we ended up taking home a tall fat tree! But it is seriously the most perfect christmas tree and smells AMAZING!!!
Eric had to cut the top off so it would fit!!!

I love my tall tree :)

The rest of the day Eric and I Spent decorating the house and the tree and listening to christmas music. and then Kyli & Dan Came over and we watched Four Christmas's with us! It was a really great day, and it is definitely beginning to feel a lot like Christmas in our little home!
Eric and I chose to do red and gold on the tree this year. The tree is still a work in progress but it looks very pretty when all the lights are off.

Some more little decorations

"And the stockings were hung on the mantel with care."

Our beautiful wreath... We had to do the classic beautiful white light this year. Still working on decorations but these were a few we have up for now :)

Turkey Day

A lot has happened since the last time I posted. Eric and I sold our car, bought a new one, had some fun weekends with the Hale family, and most importantly THANKSGIVING and BLACK Friday shopping. This year Eric and I knew with him working holiday hours there was no way we could go anywhere for Thanksgiving, so we brought Thanksgiving to our house! Eric and I invited the whole Hale family plus some of his cousins to our place this year for Thanksgiving and it was a blast. Yes at times trying to squeeze 13 people into a small one bedroom apartment was stressful, but we made it happen and it was a blast having the in-laws and all the nieces and cousins at our place for dinner. I promised my dad I'd take lots of pictures but I got busy playing hostess and forgot to so I only have a few but enjoy!
My turkey turned out AMAZING!

So Eric had to get a picture of me because I'm such a science nerd, and he said I was treating the turkey like a science experiment. ( honestly, I just had the gloves on cause I was afraid of getting burned hahaha) And I work in a laboratory, science is just what I do, don't hate because I know how osmosis works and used a method of it to make the turkey taste ten times better! hahaha

Eric carving our first Thanksgiving Turkey

We of course had to do a little black friday shopping!!! We only stayed out till 4am this year which was a pretty early ending compared to last year. These are the girlies who didn't come cause they thought sleeping was a better idea hahaha.

We were able to drag my 6 months pregnant sister-in-law and my mother-in-law shopping though, and we had a BLAST!!! Thanks ladies it was fun. Deals I got: the movie RED for 5$, 4 bottles of soap from BAth and Body works for $15, and a pair of super cute moccasin shoes from target for $10. Hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! Gobble Gobble!!
